Admission criteria & selection process

Required subjects at school-leaving level and minimum performance levels to be considered

National Senior Certificate (NSC):

To be considered you must be eligible for admission to degree studies, plus

For MBChB:

For BSc Physiotherapy:

For BSc Occupational Therapy, BSc Audiology and BSc Speech-Language Pathology:

A-level and AS-level applicants:

You need an exemption certificate from the Matriculation Board as well as the following:

For Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy you may substitute Biology for Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry).

HIGSCE applicants:

You need an exemption certificate from the Matriculation Board plus the following:

For Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy you may substitute Biology for Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry).

International Baccalaureate applicants:

You need an exemption certificate from the Matriculation Board plus the following:

IB applicants also need to be in possession of the IB Diploma, not the Certificate

For Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy you may substitute Biology for Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry).

Abitur applicants:

You need an exemption certificate from the Matriculation Board plus the following:

For Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy you may substitute Biology for Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry).

Required performance levels may vary, depending on whether the applicant is a South African citizen or permanent resident or a SADC applicant.
