Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series with Professor Bongani Mayosi in JHB

The UCT Development and Alumni Department is delighted to invite you to a talk by
Professor Bongani Mayosi, recently appointed Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, as part of the Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series.

Professor Mayosi will talk on the topic: "UCT Faculty of Health Sciences – Past, Present, and Future".

There will be an opportunity for dialogue/Q & A with Professor Mayosi.

Professor Bongani Mayosi took up his post as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences in September 2016. Professor Mayosi's work focuses on heart diseases particularly prevalent in developing countries.

He led a groundbreaking series of multinational research studies into the management of pericarditis, including an African trial  of the use of steroids in treating tuberculous (TB) pericarditis. More recently, Professor Mayosi led the first large-scale, multinational study of rheumatic heart disease in the world (first phase).
