The UCT Department of Medicine Physicians Conference has become the premier educational event not only for South African specialist physicians, family physicians, and medical registrars but for physicians and specialist trainees from the rest of the African continent and beyond. This unique and popular conference, which addresses ways of optimising conventional care for patients with common medical conditions, is attracting a growing audience of attendees from the private and public sectors. The theme for this year’s meeting is “The interface between obstetric and general medicine” and most of the talks will have a focus on pregnancy.
Besides the three day conference proceedings, the Conference will include various and very well attended hands-on sessions/meet the experts which will focus on practical updates of the management of patients. These include amongst others endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory and GIT. Over the years it’s the practical and pragmatic aspects that have made this conference so enjoyable and well attended.
