In recognition of his excellent contributions to the field of pulmonology – with a specific focus on tuberculosis (TB) – Professor Keertan Dheda, head of the Division of Pulmonology at the University of Cape Town, has been awarded an A rating by the NRF.
CNN Inside Africa has featured the APFP which in the past 10 years has successfully trained fellows from partner African academic institutions based on identified child health needs of these countries.
Final-year medical student and one-fifth of a cappella group AnecNote, Morné Kahts can now add winner of South Africa’s Got Talent to his list of varied achievements. All University of Cape Town graduates, the group beat stiff competition to take home the coveted R500 000 prize.

The Faculty of Health Sciences research enterprise aims to advance and encourage excellent research, in the context of the vision and mission of the Faculty and of the University of Cape Town. We lead high-quality research programmes, train future research leaders, and provide advice and counsel to health organisations around the world.

To be "an outstanding teaching and research Faculty, educating for life and addressing the challenges facing our society. Within this, we recognize our historical context and our location in Africa, and strive to play an active developmental role in the cultural, economic, political, scientific and social environment of South Africa and the African continent".
