IDM researcher wins prestigious award - Women in Science Awards 2015

PhD student Khanyisile Kgoadi, of the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM) received the prestigious Tata Scholarship, at the Women in Science Awards 2015 last week Thursday. The Women in Science Awards (WISA) 2015 were founded by the Department of Science and Technology in 2003 as an intervention to reward and recognise women in the sciences.

Imperial College London: Newly-discovered TB blood signal provides early warning for at-risk patients

Tuberculosis can be detected in people with HIV infection via a unique blood signal before symptoms appear, according to a new study. By providing new insights into how the body responds during the early stages of the disease, the findings could enable researchers to develop tests to predict and prevent the worsening of symptoms in the most vulnerable patients.
