Research Approach in Time of COVID-19

The COVID-19 outbreak resulted in President Cyril Ramaphosa declaring a country-wide lockdown from the 26th of March. The Health Sciences Research Information Task Team, coordinated by the Health Sciences’ Deputy Dean for Research Professor Ambroise Wonkam and the Faculty Director of Research Dr Yolande Harley was created to meet the proliferation of needs with respect to research-related information in the Faculty at this time. The Research Information Task Team, in consultation, has developed a UCT FHS approach to research in the time of COVID-19

FHS COVID-19 Research
Scientists from the Faculty of Health Sciences are working in collaboration with colleagues based at UCT as well as in partnering institutions, to develop and conduct research in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a summary of active and planned COVID-19-related research in the Faculty in order to update the FHS community, as well as to offer insights to researchers keen on collaboration on the Faculty’s current focus areas. There are additional projects being planned, which will be added to this list once the appropriate approval has been confirmed.
